Picking Accuracy Calculator

Grade your warehouse’s fulfillment quality and control costs with our
Picking Accuracy calculator

Picking Accuracy Formula:

( Number of Orders Picked without Error ) / ( Total Orders Picked ) x100= Calculated
Picking Accuracy

Using the formula

Let’s use the following data from a warehouse’s daily operations:

  • Total Orders Picked (The total number of orders or pick tickets processed during the day): 850
  • Number of Orders Picked without Error (Orders that contained the correct items and correct quantities, confirmed before shipment): 835

Calculation

We apply the formula using these values:
Picking Accuracy = (835 / 850) x 100
                                      = (0.98235) x 100
                                      = 98.24

The result is a Picking Accuracy of 98.24%.

Safety Stock Calculator

This calculator measures what percentage of your total orders were picked from the shelves perfectly on the first try.

It’s the most direct way to grade the quality of your warehouse’s fulfillment process. It answers one simple question: “Are we sending customers the exact items they ordered, or are we making mistakes?” An “error” means picking the wrong item, the wrong quantity, or a damaged item.

This metric is vital for both customer satisfaction and cost control. An error in picking is one of the most expensive and damaging mistakes a warehouse can make.

  • Customer Satisfaction: This is the moment of truth. When a customer receives the wrong product, it’s one of the most frustrating experiences possible. A high accuracy score means customers are happy and trust you. A low score means you are actively shipping them disappointment.
  • Cost Control: Every single picking error costs you money multiple times:
    1. The labor cost to process the customer’s complaint
    2. The shipping cost to send them a return label
    3. The labor cost to receive and restock the wrong item
    4. The labor cost to pick the correct item
    5. The shipping cost to send the correct item
    6. The potential cost of losing that customer forever

High accuracy means you do the job right the first time, which is always the cheapest way.
